Stop lowering your graphics. The real FPS killers in ETS2 are AI traffic, rain and micro-vegetation — this mod re-engineers all three at the definition level, and makes the world feel MORE alive doing it.

Most “performance mods” just delete traffic and leave you driving in a dead world. This one replaces the game’s flat, always-heavy traffic density withreal 24-hour traffic curves— buttery FPS at night, believable congestion exactly when a real European motorway would have it.

Rush-Hour Traffic Engine — 8-point hourly density curves
Morning rush 6:30–9:00 and evening rush 16:30–19:00 — traffic builds up and dissolves like real life
3 AM feels like 3 AM — near-empty motorways, just you and long-haul truckers
AI trucks keep realistic night presence (freight never sleeps)
Big-city density rebalanced — the single worst FPS zone in the game, now smooth

Under the hood — what actually changes
Global AI vehicle cap: 50 → 35 (direct CPU relief, fewer background simulations)
Spawn distance 600m → 500m, despawn 700m → 650m (AI stops eating frames beyond what you can see)
Detail grass density scaled to 40% across 400+ vegetation definitions + draw distance 105m → 80m (GPU relief, visually near-identical at speed)
Rain probability cut ~4x, thunderstorms rare — heavy weather is the #1 GPU spike in ETS2
Night city traffic heavily trimmed (vanilla ETS2 spawns almost rush-hour density at midnight!)
Trees, buildings, road detail, shadows: 100% untouched — zero visual downgrade where it matters

Clean & Safe
Pure definition overrides — no physics, no economy, no save-game edits
Compatible with truck, trailer, sound and map mods

Load order
Low priority (near the bottom of the in-game list). Map mods with custom traffic keep their own rules.

Best places to feel it
Berlin, Paris or Duisburg at virtual 7–8 AM vs 2 AM. Same street, completely different world — and your frame counter will notice.

The biggest hidden FPS leak in ETS2 is mirrors — each one re-renders the whole scene. These config tweaks cut that cost with almost no visual difference. Works perfectly alongside this mod:

Close the game completely
Open Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/config.cfg with Notepad

Find each line below (Ctrl+F) and change its value:
uset r_mirror_view_distance “120” (default 400 – mirrors stop rendering distant traffic)
uset r_mirror_scale_x “1” (if yours says 2 – mirror resolution back to normal)
uset r_mirror_scale_y “1” (if yours says 2)
uset r_deferred_mirrors “1” (if yours says 2 – lighter mirror lighting)
uset r_ssao “1” (if yours says 2 or 3 – ambient occlusion low, barely visible)
uset g_reflection “2” (if yours says 3 – reflections one step down)

Save the file and launch the game
Important: don’t change graphics presets in Options afterwards — the game will overwrite your tweaks

Expected combined result (mod + config): +25–45% FPS in big cities depending on hardware and time of day. Your values may differ slightly — just set them to the numbers shown above.
