I drive a lot of car mods in ETS2 and the automatic gearbox always bothered me. So I went looking at how the game actually picks gears and ended up writing a plugin around it

A plugin for Euro Truck Simulator 2 that makes the automatic gearbox behave like a car’s automatic instead of a truck’s. Written for car mods, but it applies to every vehicle.

It loads as a normal telemetry plugin and patches the code in memory at startup. The exe is never modified. Deleting the DLL undoes everything. It locates the code by Byte pattern instead of fixed addresses, so it should keep working after game updates. If it can’t find what it expects, it does nothing at all.

Single player only. Do not use it with TruckersMP or Convoy.

Developed and verified against 1.61.0.254, Windows 64-bit. Tested with Pedals and Keyboard.

How to install this mod (Full installation guide)

Download and extract the mod. File extension should be .scs (ModsHost download guide).
Find the mods folder on your computer
- Windows – /Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod
Copy the downloaded file to your Mods folder
Launch the game and enjoy your mod!
