The AW Bug first appeared before World War II as a car for the average citizen. As one of AW’s first models, it helped establish Automobilwerke Wolfsburg as a leading manufacturer of practical and affordable cars. In the 1950s and 1960s, it achieved worldwide success thanks to its simple and reliable design. Its distinctive shape and engineering features made it instantly recognizable and beloved by many.
