Tired of AI traffic that just crawls along in a single file and never passes? Realistic Traffic gives each AI car its own driver with a unique personality and teaches them to drive just like real people do.
DRIVER PERSONALITIES
Every AI car gets its own driver: cautious, normal, aggressive, or extremely aggressive. The combination depends on the car: a 60-horsepower city car is usually driven calmly, while a 600-horsepower supercar is more likely to be driven with the pedal to the metal. Each driver chooses their own speed, so two identical cars don’t drive the same way.
OVERTaking ON MULTI-LANE ROADS
Fast drivers no longer get stuck behind slow cars. They check the adjacent lane, change lanes, pass at full throttle, and return to their original lane as soon as the slow car is behind them.
OVERSLIP IN THE ONCOMING LANE
On two-lane roads, AI drivers may cross into the oncoming lane to pass. They assess visibility, oncoming traffic, and how fast their car can actually accelerate before beginning the maneuver. If something goes wrong, they abort the pass and tuck back in behind the car they were passing.
FLASHING HEADLIGHTS AND YIELDING THE ROAD

Aggressive drivers stuck behind a slow car in the fast lane flash their headlights, and the car ahead reacts by moving to the right to let them pass. Drivers may flash their lights at a slow car blocking their path, even in the middle of an overtaking maneuver.
AND OTHER BEHAVIOR
Extremely aggressive drivers pass slow cars by veering into the open lane on the right.
Trucks and buses behave like trucks and buses: they never pass.
Balanced traffic: the game spawns traffic across all power classes, from small city cars to supercars.
Faster and more aggressive acceleration for AI traffic.
IN-GAME MENU
Press “-” (the minus key) to open a small menu. Turn each feature on or off, force the driver composition (all cautious, all aggressive, 50/50…), and display each driver’s personality above their car. Your settings are saved.
Requires BeamNG.drive 0.40. Works with the game’s native traffic system: no additional configuration is needed.
Note: This mod modifies the AI driver code, so it may not work with other mods that also modify the AI.
