Drag Meets – Drag Monsters Update crash fix for GTA 5 and GTA V.
ScriptHookVDotNet compatibility patch for current game builds. Fixes startup crashes, broken meet XML files, decimal trigger coordinates, race errors and black-screen failures.

Drag Meets by Eddlm and Mkeezay30 is one of the best street racing mods ever made, and it has been abandoned since 2017. For many people it now dies at startup with the error people keep posting in the comments:

[ERROR] Failed to instantiate script Drag_Meets_Reborn.DragMeets because constructor threw an exception: System.Xml.XmlException: Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.

This is a small patch DLL. The original mod stays untouched and is not redistributed here. You need the original installed.

WHAT IS FIXED

• The startup crash. The mod reads every file in scripts/DragMeets/Meets with no error handling, so one empty or broken meet file kills the whole script. The loader is replaced with a resilient version that skips broken files and names them in a notification, so you know exactly which file to fix or delete.
• Meet files with decimal trigger coordinates. They used to crash the startup loader, and even when they did not crash, those meets could never spawn because of a rounding mismatch inside the mod. They now load and spawn correctly. Community meet packs with decimal coordinates work now.
• Crashes during play. Errors in the race logic used to make ScriptHookVDotNet abort the whole script until you restart the game. They are now logged to scripts/DragMeets_CrashFix.log and contained, and the mod keeps running.
• Black screen traps. If an error is caught while the screen is faded out, the fix fades the screen back in instead of leaving you stuck.
• Startup faults during the loading screen are caught and the startup work is re-run once the game is fully loaded.

21 methods are guarded in total. Verified against the exact crash from the comments in an offline test harness before release.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the original Drag Meets mod as normal.
2. Copy 0_DragMeets_CrashFix.dll and 0Harmony.dll into your scripts folder.
3. Do not rename the DLL. The 0_ prefix makes it load before the original mod, which is required to catch the startup crash.
4. Right click both new DLLs, Properties, tick Unblock if shown, then fully restart the game.
5. Look for the green “Drag Meets Crash Fix loaded” notification after the game loads in.
