GTA 5 Script Mod: The Legend of Bigfoot

This script is similar to other “Bigfoot” mods out there but, mine is a much more enhanced version. In this script the Bigfoot is much more dynamic and active and it can attack. It wasn’t an easy task to actually make Bigfoot move and react realistically, it took me about a week and about 91 tests to finally create the final version and achieve what I was aiming for. In “The Legend Of Bigfoot”, the Bigfoot is alive! Once you find him he’s not gonna be standing there like a dummy waiting for you to kill him. Read all the features of this mod below.

FEATURES:

1. Bigfoot is now alive and will react if you approach him within certain distances. If you are far away enough from Bigfoot and it sees you it will flee and run away, it will run away for quite a distance then it will eventually stop. He is pretty fast so if you decide to chase him you better run fast to catch up with him or he will disappear into the distance, you can also just kill him if you want ;-). If you happen to be closer than 20 feet from the creature then you’re in trouble because at that distance he will switch to “Attack” mode and he will charge you head on and he is strong!. His punches will cause damage and punching him a couple of times is not gonna take him down either but, he is not immortal, it can be killed.

2. A light-blue round blip will automatically appear on the map at random locations (see pic) and reset itself every 5 minutes or so (You can reset the blip manually by pressing the F2 key, blip will respawn somewhere else in the map, key is configurable in the ini file). Once a blip spawns in the map you will get a notification saying: “A Sasquatch was spotted by someone on the map” and then you go towards the blip location and begin looking for Bigfoot.

3. I implemented tons of remote, dense, hilly mountaineous terrain and forested regions where the Bigfoot blip can spawn at random. This is a list of some of the areas where the blip can spawn:

  • Mount Chiliad
  • Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness
  • Mount Gordo
  • San Chianski Mountain Range
  • Alamo Sea shores (at the foothills of Mount Chiliad)
  • Mount Josiah
  • Zancudo River perimeter
  • Great Chaparral
  • Tongva Hills and Valleys
  • Banham Canyon
  • Pacific Bluffs
  • Palomino Highlands
  • Paleto Bay

And other “Squashy” areas.

4. Sometimes blips will spawn on very difficult terrain, like atop of rocky plateaus with steep cliffs so If you go to a blip location and find it too difficult to traverse you can always reset the blip to appear somewhere else at will by pressing the F2 key. The F2 key is set as the default key in the ini file but, you can change it to whatever you want.

5. Once a blip spawns somewhere on the map Bigfoot will always be lurking somewhere within the blip’s “search zone” but, keep in mind that there maybe times when Bigfoot won’t be found and that’s because of a variety of reasons. These are some of the reasons why sometimes you might not be able see him:

  • Bigfoot is just not near you where you are searching. The blip’s radius is about 75 meters in circumference, so there’s plenty of search area to look into, he can be anywhere within that search area. He could easily be at the other end of the blip in a spot where you are not looking.
  • Bigfoot sees you first but you don’t see him and if you are within the “flee” trigger distance from him then he can easily sneak out and run away and you won’t see it and he does runs fast. You will see a little notification on the left side of your screen saying “Bigfoot is fleeing”. Sometimes Bigfoot will find you first, not because he was looking for you, is because he’s nearby and you don’t see him so becareful, he can also catch you by surprise and attack you. If he engages into “Attack” mode then you’ll see a notification on the left side of your screen saying “Bigfoot is attacking”.
  • Another possibility you may not see him, you might be looking in a heavily wooded area, in those types of areas Bigfoot is much more difficult to spot, he could be anywhere and you still won’t be able to see it.

Most times you will be able to find him but, sometimes you won’t. It all depends on a lot of factors. What I recommend is searching methodically, walk and don’t run when looking for it and I also recommend carrying a sniper riffle with you that way if you see something in the distance you can zoom at it with the scope without triggering a “flee” or an “Attack” reaction.

6. I also implemented a “Weather-based” blip trigger. If you think you can just go out on a nice bright Sunny day and find Bigfoot willy-nilly, NO..NO..NO…that’s not gonna happen…I made it a bit harder than that to make it realistic. So this is what the “Weather-based” implementation does and the exceptions to that rule:

  • EXCEPTIONS: A blip will always spawn somewhere on the map between 11 p.m. (23:00) and 4 a.m. (4:00), regardless of weather conditions. So it doesn’t matter what is the weather between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., a blip will always spawn somewhere on the map beween that time cycle.
  • A blip will NOT spawn on the map between 5 a.m. (5:00) and 10 p.m. (22:00) unless preferred weather condiitons are met:
  • ALLOWED WEATHER CONDITIONS: If between 5 a.m. (5:00) and 10 p.m. (22:00), the weather is: CLOUDY, SMOGGY, FOGGY, OVERCAST, RAINING, THUNDERSTORMING, SNOWING, BLIZZARD, HALLOWEEN OR CHRISTMAS then a blip will spawn on the map.
  • NON-ALLOWABLE WEATHER CONDIITONS: If between 5 a.m. (5:00) and 10 p.m. (22:00), the weather is: EXTRASUNNY, CLEAR, CLEARING or NEUTRAL, then NO BLIP will spawn on the map. The script just disables itself during those weather conditions.

Highly recommended mods that will work well with “The Legend Of Bigfoot”:

  • 0;Forests of San Andreas: Revised” by Larcius
  • 0;No More Money Pickups [.NET]” by ILikeToPlayGTA

BUGS:

  • For some reason gta 5 has this hard-coded rule that all peds must drop money on the ground when killed. Bigfoot is not supposed to be dropping money when killed, that’s just dumb and unrealistic. I tried to eliminate that for Bigfoot, I spent an entire day trying to figure out how to do that but, just couldn’t do it so when you kill Bigfoot it also drops money on the ground which is very unrealistic in my opinion. If you want you can download the mod I mentioned above: “No More Money Pickups [.NET]” by ILikeToPlayGTA” and that will prevent Bigfoot from dropping money on the ground when killed but keep in mind that will also affects all NPC peds as well.
  • Sometimes Bigfoot won’t run away if you’re in contact with it. It will just stand there and then attack if you get closer. I think that has to do with the narrow distance margin I implemented into the script. There is a narrow margin between the distance in which he’s supposed to “flee” or “attack” so sometimes, depending on where you are from the creature, the “flee” motion gets cancelled and Bigfoot stands still until you get closer and then it kicks into “Attack” mode. That doesn’t happens very often but, it does happens sometimes.
