Description
“Veneti” (Latin Veneti, Greek Ενετοί) is the name of several tribal groups that existed on the territory of Europe at the end of the 1st millennium BC – beginning of the 1st millennium AD.
Southern Venets – a group of tribes in northeastern Italy (modern Venice), speaking the ancient Venetian language.
Eastern Venets – a group of tribes in Eastern Europe, bordering the Germans.
Western Venets – possibly a Celtic tribe in the south of the Brittany peninsula in northwestern France.
Western Venets – possibly a Celtic tribe in the south of the Brittany peninsula in northwestern France.
In addition, the ancient authors called Venets (more often Venedes) the western branch of the Slavic tribes
