Description

In my opinion, GTA V has some of the weakest pain and death sounds compared to previous Rockstar games. They are not very realistic and lack variety, but the headshot sounds are probably the worst.

Games like Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption had much better reactions to headshots. NPCs would sometimes produce realistic gurgling sounds, or simply remain silent after being shot in the head. GTA V, however, added exaggerated and unnatural death sounds that can make headshots feel less realistic.

This mod removes those sounds entirely to create a more immersive and realistic gameplay experience, especially during shootouts.

Features:

-Removes the death sounds triggered when pedestrians receive a headshot.
-Removes the death sounds triggered when the player receives a headshot.
-Makes headshots feel more natural and less exaggerated.
-Improves immersion during combat.

No new sounds are added. The headshot death sounds are simply removed.

Manual Installation:

Extract the ZIP file Mute Headshot Death Sounds [M.H.D.S].zip to your desktop
Open OpenIV [Remember to have Edit Mode enabled] and the folder you extracted from the ZIP
Go to mods/x64/audio/sfx/PAIN.RPF
Then open the PAIN.RPF file in the mod folder, which will contain .awc files
Drag the .awc files into the PAIN.RPF folder in OpenIV
Enjoy the mod
